Voici un nouveau rebondissement dans l’affaire qui oppose Adobe à Apple concernant la technologie Flash. Pour mémoire, le PDG de la firme de Cupertino s’était exprimé au travers d’un communiqué de presse afin de justifier l’absence de Flash sur l’iPhone, l’iPod Touch et l’iPad. Steve Jobs déclarait en effet que l’avenir des technologies mobiles devait passer par des standards ouverts tel que HTML, CSS et JavaScript plutôt que par une technologie propriétaire telle que Flash. De son côté Adobe soulignait la compatibilité de son lecteur avec une multitude de plateformes simplifiant alors la tâche pour l’éditeur qui ne devra pas développer une version de son application spécifiquement pour le système propriétaire de l’iPhone OS. C’est désormais au tour de la Free Software Foundation, l’organisme chargé de défendre et promouvoir les valeurs du logiciel libre, de s’exprimer sur le sujet au travers d’un communiqué de presse. En effet, le porte -parole et activiste John Sullivan, invité sur le magazine Arstechnica, pointe du doigt l’hypocrisie des deux sociétés promouvant des standards ouverts sans pour autant suivre leurs propres principes. Customizing the Gnome menus with Gnome 2.0 in Solaris 9. – or – Corrections to Solaris document 817-3851 “Gnome 2.0 Desktop for the Solaris Operating Environment Systems Administration Guide” chapter 2, “Customizing Menus”. So you have installed Solaris 9 with Gnome 2.0 on some 150 machines and now you would like to customize the Applications menu to list your specific applications. Every single pathname in that chapter is wrong and is pretty useless in actually attempting this task, though I do make the assumption through the rest of this post that you have read it.
